INDUSTRY PROFILE SURVEY – A CLIENT’S STORY
Client
Trade association in the metals industry
Goals
- To provide data to the membership regarding information technology “best practices.”
Action
Industry Insights conferred with both client personnel and industry members to determine the information technology issues that were most important to the members. A survey was developed that allowed the client to provide a comprehensive review of the IT priorities, practices and spending patterns of the membership.
The survey was conducted via a combination of paper and online data capture, and the final results were summarized in a report that contained an executive overview of the main survey findings, supplemented by detailed data tables that analyzed the survey results based on various respondent characteristics. Industry Insights worked closely with the association and key industry members to ensure that the results were presented in an easy-to-use format.
Results
The association was able to provide a valuable member benefit that was previously unavailable in their industry. When a member was faced with an IT problem or needed to choose a course of action to best meet its IT needs, the results of the survey allowed the member to see what their peers in the industry had done when faced with a similar situation. The report became one of the association’s more popular publications and a key member retention and recruitment tool.
The survey is conducted every two years, providing important ongoing trending data that helps the members stay on top of the ever-changing and dynamic field of information technology.
